Kudos Emporium and Information
What are Kudos Points?
You may have noticed in your miniprofile (that's the bar with your display picture in to the left side of your posts) that you have a number total that says "Kudos Wealth: K.P. X". These are your Kudos Points and very basically having them is good, not having them is bad. Lots of Kudos often means lots of posting or winning at competitions etc etc so the more you have the better you look to the other members. They are, if you like, a small form of currency on the site.
How Do I Get Kudos Points?
Kudos Points are automatically given to you through a code. You receive 3 points for every post you make. Therefore you gain points for being active; the more your post the higher the total goes. Or at least that's the general idea anyway. These calculations are done automatically by a code on the forum.
You can, however, also gain extra Kudos Points through other means on the site. Winning competitions, for example. Some GFXers may offer graphics requests for Kudos. Or some people may even offer real items if they want to get rid of something under their bed (a Kudos version of eBay). Helping staff out, or volunteering for working at EACON or such like. Basically you can be rewarded for just being a fun and loving Otaku here on JapAnime. The easiest way to get in contact with people or to use/gain Kudos is to go through the Kudos Emporium.
What Can I Do With Kudos Points?
When it comes to getting rid of Kudos points, this could be for a number of uses. To gain your own Custom Title to your mini-profile, for example. Buy a graphics request from someone. Buy items from others. It basically depends which side of the transaction you're on when you look at both this section and the "How Can I Get Extra Kudos Points" section. People can offer items, graphics etc through their Journals or GFX pages, or offer their skills through the Emporium.
Kudos Transactions
Currently the way the Kudos code works, only Administrators are able to alter the amount in your Kudos totals through your profile. Therefore when a Kudos transaction has occurred post a message in the Post Your Invoice board.
How to Use the Kudos Emporium
Okay so here's how the actual Emporium works.
If you have a skill that you think people will be interested in - such as being able to create a signature/avatar set, or designing proboards skins etc etc, or if you have an item - anime DVDs, merchandise etc etc, then simply post a thread in the Choose Your Service board, with the title something applicable to your service/item. If you have multiple skills/items then make multiple threads. Your threads will be alphabetized for the ease of others, so you want your skill/item to be your title, not your name.
On the other side of things if you're someone looking for some graphics, writing, objects or other help then you can then search the Choose Your Service board. When you come across someone's skill they want to pay for with your Kudos points, then they post a message on that thread. Members can specify how many Kudos points they charge for their services or you can negotiate prices depending on what people want.
When you have agreed and provided a service you need to post a message in the Post Your Invoice board stating who owes what. Both of you need to have posted a message on that thread stating that he amount is accurate. Then a member of staff will come along and add or subtract kudos points from your accounts as is appropriate. The formal way of doing this is that the person who has provided the service (in other words the one who is gaining Kudos points) posts a message using the Invoice Template. The person who has received the service (in other words the one who is losing Kudos points) must then post in response to this message certifying that it is correct. When this is done, a member of staff comes along and alters your Kudos points, then deletes the invoice. Simple right? If there are any problems with this routine, simply message a member of staff.
Or if you have any queries on how the Kudos Emporium works as a whole, or if you are confused by any of these instructions feel free to send me a PM.
Manga Trade
The Manga Trade board of the emporium works a little differently to the rest of the Emporium. Of course, manga are welcome to be traded for Kudos points, in which case you simply post your ad in the Manga Trade section and then post an Invoice - or if you already have someone interested, head straight to the Invoice board and follow the instructions above. But as a whole, this board is designed for trading and swapping manga novels. As postage and packaging is likely to be the same for these books it's a way of making straight swaps so that everyone can read more manga or build up collections they have been wanting. If books are particularly rare then feel free to request two books in exchange - this is all down to you. But generally, Kudos doesn't come into this system unless the seller has no interest in other manga.
When posting the manga you have for trading, it's best to post the thread with the title of the manga first as the board is alphabetised and people can then search series they are after. If you, therefore, have more than one series you are trying to get rid of, it might be best to make multiple threads for multiple series.
If someone finds your ad and is interested in swapping some of theirs then the games begin. It is always, therefore, best to search the board for anything you're interested in before you post something about your own manga. You do not want to advertise something that you actually want to use as a bargaining chip for something else.
If there are any further questions or queries regarding this section of the forum, please feel free to contact a member of staff.
