Administrators | XenLár Rank: Co-Administrator Name(s): XenLár, Xen, Gemma, Gem etc. Pref. Anime: Code Geass. Pref. Manga: Kaikan Phrase. Pref. Drama: Devil Beside You. Guilty Pleasure: Dragonball Z. Message: Hi there! I'm Xen, or XenLár, whichever you wanna call me. Some may also call me Gemma or Gem - don't be put off by this, it's just my real name that some people know. I don't mind which you call me. I'm a wild fan of shoujo, josei and yaoi yet have a soft-spot in my heart for fighting or rebellion type anime (hence Dragonball Z and Code Geass being on my list). If you have any problems with anything here on the site, don't be afraid to ask. I designed the forum so I'm probably the person best suited to answer any of your Qs. Just drop me a bell and I'll get back to you ASAP. |

Staff Vacancies
As the forum is reasonably fresh and new we currently have many staff positions open to be filled.
All staff members must be dedicated to the forum and to spending time here at least every other day, if not every day. An hour or so is best please. The more active the staff the more stuff goes on and the more active the members.
Section Moderators Section Moderators are used to control and manage whole sections of the forum. Their roles mostly involve helping and guiding the Board Moderators in their particular Section, rather than helping members on the forum. Of course, they are open to being question and requested and will do all they can to help general members but their role is less focused on matters of the Board and more on matters of its staff and as a medium between the Board Mods and the Administrators. Main Requirements: All Section Moderators have to have good people skills. They have to be able to convey information with honesty and objectivity as they are the bridge between the administrators and members of the site - communication must be clear. They must also be willing to pay close attention to all of the boards under their management, rather than only their favourite. Do not apply for a position as Section Moderator if you are unlikely to visit all of the boards in that Section. Section Moderators are all about the organisation of their Board Mods. It is part of their responsibility to keep boards active by making sure that Board Moderators are pulling their weight and setting up games, activities and discussions. Section Moderators may also be called upon to handle disputes between Board Moderators or members that cannot be handled by their Board Mod. Section Moderators have certain abilities higher than that of a Board Mod and may, therefore be required to complete tasks within their sphere of abilities.
• Art and Design Requirements: The Art and Design Section is vast in its coverage; from computer design and photography to fanfiction. The Section Moderator must be capable and knowledgeable in most of these areas so as to be able to encourage Board Moderators to set up discussions and competitions. They must also be sensitive and tactful in regards to the artistic egos likely to be floating around such creative boards. Disputes between Board Mods or members may also become heated when it involves criticism of work; the Section Moderator of this section will be forced to handle those disputes carefully. Above all else, the Section Moderator should be interested and dedicated to the written word and created image.
• Culture Exchange Requirements: The Section Moderator for our Culture section does not have to have gone to Japan or be an expert in Japanese styles and music. These are, however, bonuses. The entire section is about exploration and learning of the Japanese culture and social world, and, therefore, any gaps in the Section Moderator's knowledge will, hopefully, be filled with energised and informative discussion. It is, however, this Section Moderator's responsibility to produce information, ideas and aspects of Japanese culture, music, fashion and language to be discussed and investigated. Its also important that this Moderator have some concept of appropriateness and politeness in regards to Japan and its people, in case of offence to any Japanese members who may come onto the forum and offer guidance and information on these boards.
Please note: We do not have a Section Moderator for our Discussion and Debate section as it is a large section and is likely to be the most active with many discussions and threads - impossible for one person to keep monitoring. Therefore, we, instead, are looking for multiple Board Moderators for each board and the head moderator in each will moderator their individual board as if it were a Section of its one.
Board Moderators The responsibilities of Board Moderators are more member focused. They handle their own individual boards (or maybe a few if they think they're active enough and can handle the responsibility) like it's their own domain. They are responsible for starting up discussions, games, activities, competitions etc, when the board gets quiet and for managing the members' disputes or needs when it is busy. They are the first stop for members who have a problem or issue with the forum and, as such, need to know the ins and outs of the forum as well as any other member of staff. Each section of Board Moderators form a unit that refers up to the Section Moderator and, therefore, need to be able to delegate upwards when a situation is beyond their skill, ability or control. They also have to work well with others, as several boards may have multiple Moderators if and when they become busy. Having multiple Mods often helps when discussion and debate is attempting to be sparked off. Main Requirements: Overall, they need to have good people skills, a calm disposition and work well in managing a small area of the forum in detail.
• Member Journals Board Requirements: Must be active in reading through other people's journals and keep the content appropriate. As the board gets busier, must be able to coordinate with other Mods in order to cover the journals correctly. Must be willing to interact with several different journals. Must be able to keep track of new journals and welcome users to the board and the forum.
• Anime and Manga Discussion Board Requirements: Must have a decent range of knowledge in anime and manga. You don't need to know everything under the sun but a good general knowledge of things both popular and not as well as both in anime and manga would be useful here. The more Mods that are a part of the board, the more specific your interests can be as you would spread across the whole range. Must be willing and able to start up and continue discussions in anime and well as coming up with new ideas on games, talks and comparisons of manga and anime that people will find engaging and interesting.
• Asian Film and TV Board Requirements: Must have a decent range of knowledge in the world of asian tv, film and drama. You don't need to know everything under the sun but a good general knowledge of things both popular and not as well as both in film and tvt would be useful here. The more Mods that are a part of the board, the more specific your interests can be as you would spread across the whole range. Must be willing and able to start up and continue discussions in anime and well as coming up with new ideas on games, talks and comparisons that people will find engaging and interesting.
• Gaming Center Board Requirements: Must have a decent knowledge of games in multiple genres. Must be up to date in new releases and news that others might find interesting. Must be eager to start up and engage in discussions about games as well as beginning games, competitions and debates on the subject. The more knowledgeable someone is about games and the consoles they're played on the more help they will be to other members.
• Cosplay Hub Board Requirements: Must have a basic knowledge of the world of cosplay at least. Being able to cosplay or make cosplay costumes yourself would be a bonus to this, but not a necessity. To have clever ideas and resources that can be passed onto others that are interested in cosplay. Must be able to interact well with others and give constructive criticism on outfits if asked for.
• Introductions and Goodbyes Board Requirements: Must be active in reading through new introductions and be ready to welcome anyone to the forum. Must have a good memory for those that leave absence messages so that you are on top of what is going on on the forum in case a staff member is looking for another member. Must be friendly and welcoming as this is one of the first stops for new members.
• Traditional Art Board Requirements: Must have a decent knowledge of their sphere of skill in order to offer constructive criticism (if asked for) or tutorials, help or guidance. To be knowledgeable in your subject also helps you see the skill in other people. Must be dedicated to your subject and be willing to start up games, competitions and discussions on the board. Generally the board must be kept active and any creative egos kept happy. People skills are key as well as a passion for your art.
• Literature and FanFiction Board Requirements: Must have a decent knowledge of their sphere of skill in order to offer constructive criticism (if asked for) or tutorials, help or guidance. To be knowledgeable in your subject also helps you see the skill in other people. Must be dedicated to your subject and be willing to start up games, competitions and discussions on the board. Generally the board must be kept active and any creative egos kept happy. People skills are key as well as a passion for your art.
• GFX Design Board Requirements: Must have a decent knowledge of their sphere of skill in order to offer constructive criticism (if asked for) or tutorials, help or guidance. Generally the board must be kept active and any creative egos kept happy. People skills are key as well as a passion for your art.
• Japanese Culture Board Requirements: You do not have to have gone to Japan or be an expert in Japanese culture. Any knowledge you do have, however, is a bonus. The board is about exploration, and, therefore, any gaps in the your knowledge will, hopefully, be filled with energised and informative discussion. Its also important that this Moderator have some concept of appropriateness and politeness in regards to Japan and its people, in case of offence to any Japanese members who may come onto the forum and offer guidance and information on this board. Must be eager and willing to start up discussions and provide information about the Japanese social world and culture.
• J-Music Board Requirements: Again you do not have to be an expert on all kinds of Japanese music, but a good general knowledge and eagerness is essential. Knowing bands, singers and styles will help to encourage others and mean that you're able to give information and recommendations. Must have a good knowledge of releases and gigs going on in both the UK and Japan and be willing to produce photos and information on them asap. We want this board to be up to date and full on exciting information.
• Kudos Emporium Board Requirements: This board is a little different from the others. Kudos staff are needed to have certain powers in order to be able to exchange Kudos and complete Invoices. Therefore, we're imposing the limit that a member must have 300 posts to apply for this position. We need to know that the people we are assigning are active, dedicated members, whom we can trust. This position requires trustworthy members willing to do a load of slog work and keep the Kudos Emporium running smoothly.
Networking Staff Networking Staff are responsible for the exterior sites related to JapAnime. The Networks shown in the side bar to the left of the page are the sites we hope to have running, regularly updated with information about JapAnime and EACON so that people can keep an eye on what is going on without having to log on all the time. These sites are also a useful and effective method of advertisement and anyone taking on the responsibility of a Networking page need to be very active and dedicated as well as good representatives of JapAnime and its staff and members. Main Requirements: It would be good for all Networking Staff to have at least a basic working knowledge of all of the networks being used, so that they can exchange knowledge and information with each other easily. It is also important that they are highly active on the Network they choose to run. It is important that our network accounts are frequently updated. Networking Staff are also representatives of JapAnime across the internet and need to be people that are familiar with the site and can answer any questions potential members have with confidence. They need to remain polite, helpful and appropriate across the net in order to attract members of a similar nature.
• Twitter Requirements: A strong understanding of how Twitter works. A dedicated and frequent activity level on Twitter, in order to keep up with those involved in the anime world and those that are following us in turn. A video camera would be a useful addition to this job role so that videos of events or members can be done. A regular interest and creative input on what can be put on the account. Such as home videos of members introducing themselves and saying help. Video diaries of what is going on on the forum at the moment, including all announcements and competitions going on across the forum. Therefore, the moderator needs to be a regular browser of all of the boards offered here, not just a few.
Advertising Staff Advertising staff are vital for keeping the forum up and running. This involves posting our advertisement on as many forums and websites as possible. After the initial affiliation round our admins are doing as this forum is launched, affiliation will also be up to the Advertising Staff. This job also involves keeping stock of the Plugging Board - responding to any first posted advertisements and making sure that affiliate requests are responded to by head staff, as well as making sure that messages are posted in the right areas. Requirements: Must be highly active. Must be willing to dedicate time each day to advertising the forum. Must be good representatives of the forum.
Please note: If anyone from JapAnimeUK 1.0 Would like to reapply for staff positions they have previously held please feel free. We simply put everything back up for grabs for fear of being rude in assuming that everyone would instantly want the responsibility of staff thrust upon them. We are happy to take back staff we know to be responsible and dedicated to the forum.
