Introductory Checklist
Hi there and welcome to JapAnime! We realise that we're kinda a big place here, so we've created this little Checklist so that you can move your way around the forum easily. Keep this thread open and simply follow the steps below, opening anything new in a new tab - that's the easiest way to do it.
This thread also works quite well as simple navigation to all the important places on the forum.
Hope you enjoy your time here at JapAnime!
So now you're a pro! You know everything there is to know and you are free to roam the boards for the forum to your content! See you there!

Register with JapAnime by clicking on the "LogIn/Out" Button at the top, and then the Register link to the side of the log-in box. Or simply click here. Once registered, activate your account by using the activation code in the automated email sent to the address you signed up to. You can always send another confirmation email with the link provided on the activation page, if necessary.
Now that you have an account you can make your profile pretty and unique by going to the "Profile" button in the top menu (or simply click here)and clicking "Modify Profile". In here you can alter your display name - this does not change your log in or pm address username, only the name seen in your mini profile - your avatar (max width=120px, height=170px) and add a signature which will appear below each of your posts on the forum (max width=600px height=300px). You can also add information to your Personal Text. This is the message in your mini profile that automatically appears in quotation marks.
Once you're all set to go, you might want to check out the basic threads. About JapAnime tells you the basics of what you need to know on the forum. It also gives you a little information on using a Proboards hosted forum (of which ours is) such as font help etc. The other necessary thread to read through is the Complete Rule Guide, for obvious reasons.
For a little wider knowledge of what's going on on the forum we also recommend this specific threads to be given a read through. They're in no way compulsory but they're recommended to anyone who wants a little more info on the forum, its members and how it all works. You can visit the Meet the Staff thread in order to check out who is running the place and for any staff vacancies. You can also visit the Kudos Information thread in order to learn about the KP points in your mini profile. And, finally, the News and Announcements board might be worth a look so that you know what is going on atm and what people are nattering on about.
Okay, now that you have the look and the know-how, it's on to diving in! Your first stop we recommend as being the Introductions and Goodbyes board where you can just post a quick and cursory hello message to the other members on the board, establishing who you are and what the hell you're doin' here (lol). Then, to start up a more constant and regular communication with members a journal in the Member Journals board goes a long way. You don't have to update it all the time, or post your every thought, but it's a good way of chatting with other members and letting them know what's happening in your life.
If you're particularly artistic you can also make journals like this in the appropriate board under the Art and Design section of the forum. These specific boards are open to you creating your own journal that works as a portfolio to show off your work to other members.
Interested in conventions? As well as advertising and rating conventions all over in the Convention Review and the Know Your Cons boards, we also run a board for open suggestions and ideas concerning EACON, our own convention set to run in 2013. The EACON 2013 board offers you the chance to speak out any ideas you have for us and the Official EACON Information thread updates you on all the actual decisions we've made and information we have.
And last but not least, if you would like to get more involved with the forum and get stuck in, one of the easiest navigation points would be this thread which gives you all the info you need, as well as links to the relevant areas.
So now you're a pro! You know everything there is to know and you are free to roam the boards for the forum to your content! See you there!
